The Empowerment Programs 3 Programs Updated Apr 2026

Mama Fua Empowerment

Three programs, one mission. A structured savings group that builds discipline. A bundled insurance product that protects the household from medical shocks. A member-owned SACCO that turns savings into working capital. Together, they are the framework that converts a stable wage into long-term financial resilience for 7,000+ trained cleaners across Kenya.

The full arc
Three programs. One continuous journey from wage-earner to owner.
Stage 01
Save

Mama Fua Chama builds the savings habit — automated monthly contributions, peer support, financial mentorship.

Stage 02
Protect

Mama Fua Cover absorbs the medical and accident shocks that would otherwise wipe out the buffer every time.

Stage 03
Invest

Mama Job SACCO converts the sustained savings into enterprise capital — a loan, a business, an asset, an income.

Each program reinforces the other two. Without savings discipline, there is nothing to protect. Without protection, one medical emergency erases the savings. Without enterprise capital, the savings stay a buffer instead of becoming a business. That is why the three are designed as one system, not three products — and why every one of them operates as a member-owned institution rather than a commercial service.

The three programs

3 programs

Each program is a standalone institution with its own structure, governance, and member agreement. Together, they form the empowerment arc — save, protect, invest.

Supporting the empowerment programs
The three programs are self-sustaining on member contributions and platform economics — but specific partner capital accelerates reach, depth, and outcomes. Development finance institutions, impact funds, insurers, and philanthropic foundations can engage through channels that are structured, commercial where appropriate, and impact-measured where relevant.
  • Wholesale loan capital for the SACCO lending book
  • Guarantee facilities for enterprise loans
  • Insurance underwriting partnership for Cover
  • Technical assistance for financial and enterprise curricula
  • Geographic expansion capital for new Chama chapters
  • Catastrophic-risk reserve co-funding for Cover
